Repairs Part 2

1 – 8 May 2021

With repairs still to commence on 4WDaus we headed for the Gold Coast for a change of scenery. We found a nice hotel room in the Rhapsody building with a northern view up the coast. This week we got news the repairs to 4WDaus should be finished by Friday. We are excited to get back on the road again.

6 May – what visit to the Gold Coast would be complete without a visit to the SLRV workshop. It was good talking to Bill and hearing what they are up to. We look forward to buying one of their products one day.

One of my favourite all time movies is “Big” with Tom Hanks. I was so surprised to find a Zoltar machine on the side walk on the Gold Coast – so cool.

7 May – We arrived at Wacol to pick up 4WDaus. From here we headed to Redcliffe (Steves old stomping ground) to camp at the show ground and recommission 4WDaus to home again. We met Steve and Jane with their wonderfully named SLRV Man “Amander”. One truely impressive vehicle! As former IT geeks we just were amazed by the gadgetry this vehicle had, including its remote slide out solar panels. wow! When we lived in Redcliffe Morgans seafood became a friday night tradition, one we were happy to enjoy in celebration of being back on the road!

9 – 21 May 2021

The rush is now on to get 4WDaus cleaned up, new stereo fitted, upgrade solar controller to bluetooth and checked over for our trip to the Finke Desert Race. Also thrown in is the continued search for house, catchup with friends and shooting for Alison. The 12 days just went so fast! We arrived Rainbow Beach 9 May and was off by the 20th for Bundaberg. 4WDaus got a final check over with Ross in Bundaberg and we were fuelled up and with diesel and full of food for the westward journey.

Ross who also owns an Amesz motorhome told us of an exciting project he is currently working on, the upgrade to 37 inch tires and possible GVM change. The Federal Couragia M/T 37×12.50R17LT look amazing on his Amesz. He also should be able with a brake upgrade take his GVM to 6200 or 6500kgs. Nice one! Tyre cost about $380 each!
