Udon Ratchathani to Bangkok

18 February 2018

After a good nights sleep in Ubon Ratchathani we headed off to Luang Pu Cha Pagoda, or as well nicknamed it, the flying saucer temple. It must have been Alison’s day for getting into trouble as she wandered into a keep out area. From here we headed south to Prasat Nong Thonglang where Alison once again got into trouble by locking the keys to the car in the car! But Neil was able to find a local to help us out of the situation. This also marked the most south west we would reach on this trip. So from here we reached Prasat Ban Ben and Wat Song Takhian. By the evening we arrived in Si Sa Ket where we found the best roadside dinner! Alison day of disasters was over!

Today we headed north west of Si Sa Ket to Phrathat Ruang Rong, this is an older temple which had a few little weird things like dinosaurs and Michael Jackson’s figurines. Our next stop took us to one of those boat temples named Wat phrathat Suphannahong. The next stop was the Wat Ban Ngiang. As we were close to Buri Ram we headed to the NpHotel for another nights accomodation.

Today we headed further west towards Bangkok visiting Wat Udo Thun and Wat Bu Pai. We also took time to visit a simple bamboo walkway through the middle of some rice fields. Sounds silly, but I thing we all enjoyed the walk along hoping it would hold our weight.

We also visited the half finished Wat Seang Tham where the boys met the head monk complete with his orange safety gloves. The monk proudly showed off the construction work that was going on. This will be an amazing temple when complete.

Tonight Neil and Alison did some amazing negotiating getting an amazing hotel room in Prachin Buri which was just luxury! So awesome!

21 February 2018

Today we were up to a bit a fun so we visited the Wat Sama Rattanaram. This place is like a theme park with cartoon characters and transformers mixed with the traditional temple icons. Must admit I was very impressed with the giant pink elephant (Ganesh)! The final temple to visit was The Khlong Khuean Ganesh. An enormous upright statue. Of course the fun and games were not over for the day.

For the whole trip, Steve and Alison were vague on where they were staying in Bangkok on their return. The surprise was, even though we told Neil and Connie we were staying at the peninsula hotel, the statement was not believed until their bags were taken up the elevators to their room. A great evening celebrated a awesome trip at the cafe Bangkok.

22 February 2018

How better way to start your day being totally spoilt by Neil and Connie with a huge breakfast at the Pennisula Hotel! totally spoilt! The sad part of the celebration was Neil and Connie were off to Australia, whilst we were off to Chiang Mia. So after saying our goodbyes we went our separate ways. Thank you Guys this was another incredible adventure we will cherish.

After a almost routine flight to Chiang Mai it was off to the 3Season for a rest and relax before we took a walk into the old city. We visited Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan before finding a yummy dinner.
