Daisy Plains

New Year in the Hills

30 December 2013

Everything was cold, wet and soaked from the cloud and mist, so we decided to head off early. The call of fresh coffee was high on both our lists of priorities for the morning. Eventually, we made our way through the maze of tracks to Seaview. The coffee was good and it warmed and perked us both up. From here we headed off to the north into Cotton-Bimbang National Park and Oxley Wild Rivers National Park. We found a great camp site high above Kempsey with views out towards the coast.

Early start today, we backtracked to Daisy Plains. Here we explore Carrari State Forest further where we found forestry huts, old homesteads and machinery abandoned in the thick bush. As it was New Year Eve and decided to return to our campsite of the previous night to see in the New Year and celebrate.

With the time getting close for Alison flight back to Sydney we started to pick our way down the tracks to the coast. Once on the highway, we were soon back in Brisbane.
