Day 4 – Finders Ranges to Wahgunyah Conservation Reserve

Dec 30 2008

This morning we woke before sunrise to capture its effect on the bluff we camped near. Another cold night made getting up that little bit harder. The extra clothing we had purchased in Broken Hill was welcome. As the red glow of the sunrise painted the bluff magnificent reds and the countryside came to life.

The distant noise of sheep and humanity could be heard. Breakfast was coffee & Special K, something of a tradition on the road. We broke camp about 8.30am to make our way towards Port Augusta. Entering Port Augusta, our mobiles chimed back into life with SMS & missed calls. After checking in with family & enjoying a couple of fresh sandwiches, and a quick stock up of bread etc we pointed the 4WD westward again.

Camped at Wahgunyah Conservation Reserve. We drove into the campsite just after sunset – local time 9pm – the views were incredible – the price was listening to the pounding ocean and a cool breeze.
