About Steve & Alison

Steve Kruger and Alison Kruger are full-time expedition explorers who are just out there living life. We sat in offices for many years dreaming of a life outside exploring the roads less travelled. As well as exploring, we like to digitize these travels using the skills we learned from years of work. We present them on this website for a few reasons which include:

  • Preserving what life is like
  • Inspiring others to chase their dreams
  • Sharing beautiful images of what there is to see and experience
  • Have something to read when we decide to slow down and not travel as much

We have been influenced by films like “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” and “Hector and the Search for Happiness”. Their messages are happiness is a journey, not a destination, and you are the only one responsible for it. We recommend you watch these films if you are unsure what we mean.

And so we hope you enjoy our journeys and photographs as we travel the life road we all must navigate.

Alison was a career accountant who got tired of being an accountant and established her own company that specialised in software configuration. She was a country girl that went to the big smoke and never felt comfortable in the city! Escaping to the bush was at the start, a survival technique, but soon it developed into a deep love of nature and a source of adventure. This helped her develop a “can do” attitude and a get up and go to match.

Steve grew up in Wollongong before moving to Queensland and setting up a home and life for himself. His career included accounting, IT sales and a combination of the two, IT Accounting support.

4WDAUS

Amesz Expedition Vehicle

Whilst both our noses were hard against the grindstone, we dreamed of owning an expedition vehicle (4WD truck) with the ability to take us for many months at a time off the grid and in any direction that takes our fancy. We want to own a quality expedition vehicle, Australian built, with a good name which would be reliable and tough.

To this end we purchased an Amesz Canter 4WD Motorhome, nicknamed “4WDAUS”. To us it gave us the ability to travel in most weather conditions and the ability to be close to the type of country we love and appreciate most. Wet, dry, cold or hot, 4WDAUS allows us to be comfortable living off the grid. 4WDAUS also gives us the ability to sit in one place and wait sometimes days for the perfect light to get some great photos.

Having a solar power system  gives us a platform to live without noisy generators so we can hear nature about us. So today we travel, ticking things off the bucket list and adding to it just as fast! Life is just fantastic.
