Today started out as where were we going to head today? Tonight we have just arrived home from the Brighter Days 2016 – Bikes, Cars and Music festival at Bright. But let me rewind.
It was a wonderful cold night up about 1,700m last night. Before leaving Falls Creek, we took the opportunity to top up the water supply before starting the slow crawl down about 1,400m. The steep decent took us back to Mt Beauty. Relying so much on exhaust brakes, it’s shock if they do not work. Investigating revealed it to be a sticky accelerator. A little tinkering and the problem was fixed.
Arriving in Mt Beauty, Steve could not believe his eyes, dozens of restored and hotted up cars / bikes and even a new Ford Mustang 2015 model. Steve last seen disappearing into the exhaust smoke and dust with camera in hand. Alison widowed again.
Turns out the cars and bikes were on a poker run bound for the Brighter Days Charity weekend. So with 4WDaus in hot pursuit we headed off with the poker run. Oh What is a poker run? Contestants travel a route picking up playing cards to produce a poker hand. better cards can be purchased as well. All in the name of charity!
Having settled in Bright for the day we headed off to the music part of the festival to enjoy

This morning started early with the Car Show’N Shine event. Steve was in there early. Many cars were driven into Bright Cloud roundabout and main street and parted there for everyone to see. It was an enjoyable morning wandering around the vehicles chatting with their owners and making friends.
At 10:30am a show named the Eljay Freestyle Show started. It starred 27yo Brisbane girl, Janine Jungfels and Eljay Driessens. They performed some amazing tricks on push bike and motor bike which involved riding up ramps onto the tops of the large truck they use.
By 4pm it was time to head back to the music bowl for the evenings entertainment. The eagles tribute band was awesome. They set the crowd alive with favourite cover songs from the Eagles and other artists.
8:30pm Bjorn Again came on stage to perform ABBA songs to close the even.
The little township of Bright is truly a generous and kind community. the auction raised thousands of dollars and many people redonated what they wn back to the charity. It was amazing to see such an event done for charity and I am still astonished how well behaved the public with so little regulation or security. Awesome everbody.
