Sydney Vivid Festival

The Amazing Lights of Vivid Festival Sydney Vivid is an annual lighting festival with fascinating installations and projections in many parts of Sydney which we have attended a few times over the years I lived in Sydney’s CBD. The Vivid festival also includes performances from local and international musicians and an ideas exchange forum featuring public talks and debates. This is a winter event and takes place in central Sydney over 3 weeks in May and June. The centrepiece of Vivid is the light sculptures, multimedia interactive work and building projections that transform various buildings and landmarks such as the Opera House and Harbour Bridge in and around the Sydney CBD into an outdoor night time canvas of art. My favourite Vivid installation is definitely the Opera House which is the centre piece of the event. Each year it has a different theme animated onto its sails. The projection point for this display has moved in some years, but favoured position is the passenger terminal for cruise boats. Taking a photograph from under the projectors gives an amazing image. Other areas like the Argyle Tunnel, which is under the harbour bridge city approach site, has also been used on a couple of occasions. In later year the Harbour Bridge was also coloured as part of the festival.
